Im so sad this class is over! I loved coming to second period knowing that if I was in a bad mood I would be much more happier walking out, or if I needed a good laugh second period was the place to be. This class really brought out who I am and who others are. I think the biggest reason why I enjoyed it was because it made me come out of my comfort zone. Before I would just sit back and be to shy to participate in some of the things we did this year but now I really dont care how silly I look. Thank you Mr.Tompkins for being such a rad teacher. You communicated with us so well throughout the whole semester and I know that if I ever need anyone to talk to when I feel like my friends might not understand, I can come to you! You realated to us and I think it's so important that you did that. You taught us life lessons that were never ever going to forget and you taught us simple things like how communication is always the key and oppertunties are always knocking and we need to take them. I've relaized how awesome each and every person is in that classroom and we all have stories. I respect so many other people now then I did before and not only that but I feel more confident with who I am. To me thats something thats really important. We were a community and we worked so well together, yeah im going to miss this class but im going to walk out knowing that everyone is always going to be their for me and I will always be their for everyone else.
Thanks again Mr. Tompkins, you've made footprints in our lives!

#18: Nick Vujicic
This video was the best way to end a class. It was so awesome and inspirational and it almost made me cry because it actually touched my heart. I think this could be an awesome jump start to people who arn't motivated and think they cant do anything. Because I believe that anyone can do anything no matter how hard it is. Like Nick said in the video when he used falling down as a demonstration, "if you fall down are you going to finish strong?" Because I think what he meant by that was even when your at your lowest you will always make it out okay. He proved it when he was down face first on his stomach and got up using only his legs because he has no arms. He faces situations most likely in an every day life where he probally feels like life wont get any better but it will. You have to have self esteem and courage and you have to be motivated. I think the 7 habbits of highly effective teens apply to Nick because he puts first things first by overcoming fears and being strong through the most difficult times. I also belive that he sharpens the saw by regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of life the body, brain, heart, and soul.
# 17: Society
As I watched this video the only thing that went through my mind was the discussions we have in class when others feel like their doing more work then other people. I think the people on the escalators were just sort of expecting others to pick up the slack and get them out of this situation and help them instead of doing the work themselves. I realize this happens alot, probally more then it should but I think we need to realize that we are all working towards the same thing and thats success so I think helping eachother our is better then just making one person do all the work. In order to motivate the ones who are unmotivated I think maybe we need to talk to them to see why they arn't so motivated or even try and be alot more positive around them. People go through alot I understand and that could be the reason why they just dont feel like helping out once and a while but we cant let our problems get the best of us. It's important for us to build character in our class and be their for eachother and help eachother out. Not just in our class but as well as outside the classroom. Helping people is always the best thing.

How I'd like to change the world.
For my project on how I would like to change the world I am going to talk to my classmates about Global warming. I know you told us that we didn't have to do an idea on the restructuring of our global economic society but global warming is something i've always been interested in.. actually, and it puts me in shock every time I hear about it. I really want to stay on this earth for as long as possible and I would like for it to be healthy when I spend my time on it. So what im going to do is challenge all my classmates to go green for atleast a week. Im not saying that you not aloud to bathe or something like that, but i'll explain some things that I do that you can do to be green and be one more person who prevents global warming.
1) Use the off switch: When your not using your lights in the house just shut them off. It saves energy.
2) Unplug the simpelest things: A night light, phone charger, hair appliances, microwave, anything thats automatic in the kitchen, and even turn your power bars off for your computers and your tv.
3) Replace a regular light bulb with a Flurescent light bulb: Flurescent saves 60% of more energy then a regular light bulbs and i've encouraged my parents to have them as much as possible in the house.
4) When ever you get the chance hang your clothes on the clothes line outside instead of using your washer and dryer.
5) Use less water: It's better to take a shower then it is bath because a shower takes up 4 times less energy then a bath does due to the shower head and the amount of water that comes out of it. Im not saying you have to shut the water off every five seconds because i'll be honest and say i dont do that at all but even the simpelest things like buying a low flow shower head because it's the same comfort as a regular shower head and also shutting the water off when you dont need it. Like when your brushing your teeth.
6) Use the special grocery bags when your at the grocery store. There's really no need for the plastic bags that the grocery stores hand out.
7) Use the 10 second rule with your car: Turn it off when you dont need it.
8) Walk, ride a bike, run, roller blade whatever you need to do instead of using fuel.
9) Carpooling.
10)Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! the 3 r's, Reduce the amount of garbage we put in our land fills, Reuse anything you can and recycle because you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by recycling half of the waste your household generates.
11) Plant a tree: A single tree will absorb about 1 ton of carbon dioxide in it's lifetime.
12) and one last thing you could do is encourage others to conserve :)
So I just gave you guys some ideas that you could try and now im going to tell you what i've already done and what I would love to do for ontario. At the beginning of October I got a call from a lady who works with my mother to come and help her and a group of others pick up garbage around the city of Woodstock. I got 3 hours of community service and some people might think thats not enough but to me it didn't really matter how many hours I got. It was the fact that I did something really cool and made a town look a little bit more decent in some areas than it had before. Their was about 15 of us and we split up in groups of 3 and set off to just pick up litter that people were to lazy to throw in the garbage that was 10 steps infront of them. I helped clean the area of Riddell Street where WCI is located and as well as Adelaide Street which sort of branches off from one another and as well as a little bit of the main street. It was a really good experience and I was really happy I got to take part in something like that. One thing I would also like to do is Adopt a highway. Adopt a highway is a group event where you go atleast twice a year and commit to picking up litter on a 2km highway. I think this would just look great. When people drive by and see others helping the ecnonomy I think is sort of a special thing and it's deffinitly something im thinking of looking into. Also if nothing gets done about this problem thats bigger than people think it is all I can tell myself is that i've done my part and what I can and I can just be happy with that I suppose. This is a really important issuse to me and I think it should be adressed more. I dont think people realize what kind of a state our earth is at, at this moment and I want to make sure that when im older and I have kids that their living on a place thats healthy. I dont want it to be run down and I think thats another thing that im more concerned of. Im also getting more concerned over the years for our oceans, the fish within them and our animals that we have. It's not just humans that live on our earth. Each day there is less sea ice for polar bears to be on. The ice moves farther apart and then the living conditions become so much more dangerous for them. Polar bears make their living on the arctic ice which is why global warming is such a serious threat to them because due to our actions the ice glaciers are melting and breaking and they become trapped. As well as the sea animals and fish in the oceans. Over the years more and more animals are found with plastic wrapped around them and some of them even die. I think it's taken a huge toll on us and if we dont take a stand now then were going to regret it in the future when things arn't what we want them to be. The only support I need today is my classmates and possibly even you Mr. Tompkins. If my classmates listen to what I have to say and even you, then just maybe I could make a little bit of a difference today. All you have to do is go green and follow the smallest steps i've listed!
Posted below are some videos that I have found extremly interesting over the years.

#16- Hamper helpers.
Going into this I had a bit of a rotten attitude. To be quite honest i knew it was going to be heavy lifting and thats the only negative thought I had about it. But once I got there and stepped in the room I was actually in awe at how many faces were there. Faces i've never seen before and some that I actually knew. It shocked me but once I saw the amount of people who were in a spot they didn't want to be in for the holidays I knew that if I helped them out just a bit... it would brighten up there holiday or atleast there day. I truly believe I helped out alot. I was always grabbing boxes or bags. I love doing things like this, just helping someone. It made me happier each time I went out to there car to put a bag full of presents in or a box full of food because they always had the biggest smile on there face no matter what. Some people who first came in to register there names didn't seem quite happy. I think the reason for that was because maybe they didn't want to be seen there because they didn't want others to look down on them. But I say, it doesn't matter where you from or how much you have, your still the same as everyone else. I loved doing this and I think it was such a great experience for all of us because it probally made all of us realize how greatful we should be for what we have. I know thats what it made me feel and I also feel that it was a great start to the holiday I actually couldn't of done anything better to put me in a greater mood. So thanks Mr. T for letting us have the experience!

# 15- A violinist in the metro.
This article really surprised me. It was shocking to know that so many people just walked by him and didnt't really even aknowledge him. I think alot of us just take things for granted, and im not saying I dont because I know I do but I think we need to start appreciating more than we do. It's strange how the only really people who thurly enjoyed his music and seemed the most interested were the little kids. Maybe it's because they are just new into the world and have not really experienced alot. Maybe the adults passed it on by because it was just another one of those people playing an instrument. Could this be where everythings amazing and nobodys happy fits in? why does it always have to come down to that? I cant say I would relate to this in anyway because im a huge fan for music. My sister has her own apartment in Toronto and im pretty well their everyother weekend and when I am thats one of the most common things I see. Someone young or old playing an instrument on the sidewalk with their case open trying to collect some money. But it's not about the money, how can we pass on by something that sounds so outrageously incredible? We take things for granted in our everyday life and it's become such a habbit that we just dont realize and think anything of it anymore. It's the normal thing to do. I say it needs to come to a stop, when are we going to start to appreciate the beautiful things?
# 14- The last lecture.
If I only had a short time left to live and I had to give a lecture to a room full of people I think I would just tell them to.. live the life they want. As long as your having fun with what your doing then it shouldn't matter what others think of you, to respect other people because in order for you to get respect you have to gain it, to live each day like it was your last with no fears on your path or people in your way, to live your life to the fullest because it's important to be happy, not to take things for granted. When you have a chace at something huge grab onto it and never let it go. I think everyone just needs to appreciate everything and live laugh love. I dont know how much my older sister stresses that enough. Love everything and everyone around you, live like it's your last and laugh like theres no tomorrow. It's amazing what a smile can do.
